Jeff Bouma - Lead Pastor
Pastor Jeff is a 1994 graduate of Central Michigan University where he received his Bachelor's degree in Finance. After a five-year stint in business, God called him out of that world and into the pursuit of full-time ministry. In 2003, Pastor Jeff graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary. While pursuing a Masters of Theology degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, completed in 2005, he also worked part-time as a youth pastor at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in East Brunswick, NJ. Upon moving back to his hometown of Grand Rapids, Jeff took over as solo pastor at Wilson Ave. Wesleyan Community Church. After some time and a whole lot of prayer, the decision was made to shut down the church and start over. On Oct. 17th, 2007 - The Voyage Church was born, still under Pastor Jeff's leadership.
In his spare time, Pastor Jeff loves to go places he's never been to before and listens to new music he's never heard before. Aside from spending time with his extraordinary family - his wife Cara and his six children (Mitch, Josh, Zach, Joy, Hope and Seth) - Pastor Jeff likes to spin tunes every Thursday from Noon to 3 PM on the "best little radio station on the planet": 88.1 FM WYCE.
In his spare time, Pastor Jeff loves to go places he's never been to before and listens to new music he's never heard before. Jody Bacinski - Spiritual Formation Pastor
Pastor Jody is a wife, mom and grandma too! She loves books; her favorite being historical fiction. She also loves to travel, follow the Detroit Red Wings, and of course, she loves kids. This makes sense since Jody overseas our children's ministry and our adult ministry as the Spiritual Formation Pastor here at The Voyage Church.
In addition to her leadership in spiritual formation, Jody also serves at Tower Coffee on occasion, preaches regularly, and helps out in other areas within the church as needed.
Pastor Jody graduated from Grand Valley in elementary education a long time ago (1976). She was an assistant at Explore and Grow Child Care Center at Kentwood Community Church for many years - working primarily with four-year olds. When she turned fifty, Jody had the opportunity to go to school and become a pastor. She jumped at the chance and over two-years ago and joined the folks who were restarting an old church into something new - what would become The Voyage Church - as a licensed pastor.
Jody is the wife of John, a computer man. She has five kids, including her wonderful son and daughter-in-law. She's also the grandma of one delightful little girl. Jody is enjoying this life of following the Spirit wherever He takes her.
